Performing in the Regional Premiere of DIONYSUS WAS SUCH A NICE MAN by Kate Tarker with Fools Fury
Dates: September 20 - October 20, 2019
Location: Joe Goode Annex - San Francisco.
Tickets will be on sale in a few short weeks, please check back soon.
Dionysus Was Such a Nice Man is a comic and pungent take on the story of Oedipus from the perspective of the family of shepherds who raised him. It completely dismantles and re-imagines Sophocles’ classic play, exploring the point of view of Alcinoe, Oedipus’s adoptive sister, and examining the ways in which bad behavior, particularly by powerful men, is excused, concealed, and exalted.
The text of the play seems almost custom built for foolsFURY. Our rendition will mix physical theater and traditions of clowning as a lens to tackle this veritable smorgasbord of disfunction, hedonism and absurdity.

Current Company Manager, Production Manager and Education Director of Ragged Wing Ensemble Theatre.
Ragged Wing Ensemble is a physical, ensemble theater company that began producing original work in the East Bay in 2004. As critic Lily Janiak wrote for HowlRound, Ragged Wing “specializes in original, ensemble-created work with wildly inventive but precise physicality. It takes on unwieldy, abstract ideas and makes them dramatic through created or reinvented myth.”
BULLET by Becky Key Boesen, which I directed premiered at the New Orleans Fringe Festival.
The play is a fantasia that centers around the complicated relationship of Lincoln spree killer Charles Starkweather and his 14 year old girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate.
